LG 55LW5600 1080p 120Hz LED TV Review

LG 55LW5600 1080p 120Hz LED TV with SmartTVplus 3D (Passive), This set uses passive 3D. Passive 3D can only send a 540P image to each eye, so you’re effectively cutting the resolution in half. If you want to watch in 540P, by all means, purchase a passive 3D set. If you want Full HD 1080P to each eye, you will need to go with active shutter. Furthermore, passive 3D is prone to much more crosstalk, and extremely poor viewing angles. I spent some time with this set in a showroom of a local electronics dealer, and I was very disappointed with the 3D. It was blatantly obvious that the resolution was being cut in half. I was viewing 3D, but it was more like if 3D DVD would have came out years ago, and we got to watch DVD’s in 3D.I was also unimpressed with the 2D quality. Extremely poor screen uniformity, light black levels, blue tinged black level, awful off angle viewing, terrible overall contrast. If you’re looking for a new 3D TV, and you need Full HD 3D, be aware that the prices of active shutter glasses are dropping to $50 or less. And most 2011 3D sets are now including 2 pairs of active shutter glasses.
Picture quality on regular HD programming is amazing. It make me like I am always watching a Blu Ray movie all the time. Another cool feature of this tv is you can have APPS like Facabook, YouTube and Netflix on your tv as long as you hook it up to an internet. The 3D feature is ok but they could make it more vibrant. And the free 3D glasses, four of them, is not too bad. Better than those yellow ones they hand you in theaters. And the option of converting 2D-3D is with just one click is nice. One thing I was disappointed about was the sound quality. I have tried all option from Cinema, Gaming, Sports but it lacks an impact. It like listening on the radio. |  LG 55LW5600 1080p 120Hz LED TV Review.
