Toshiba may be better known for their full-size laptops such as the Satellite and Qosimo, but they make great netbooks as well. The NB500-N508 models can be found for well under $300, and feature no-nonsense designs and good performance. The 10.1-inch screen features a 1024×600 pixel resolution, and is LED-backlit to save energy. The full-size keyboard and wide trackpad both help prevent cramped hands. The single-core Intel Atom N455 is extremely energy-efficient, and contributes to the 8+ hour battery life. The included 1GB of DDR2 RAM isn’t the best configuration for performance, but it’s definitely more than adequate for tasks done on a netbook. The NB505-N508 comes with a roomy 250GB hard drive for plenty of storage. You won’t find a Gigabit ethernet port or Bluetooth connectivity with the NB505-N508, but it does come with integrated 802.11b/g/n wi-fi, 3 USB 2.0 ports, and an SD card reader.
